My journey into birth work began in 2016 while I was pregnant with my first son. As I prepared to welcome him into the world, I discovered just how powerful education, support, and trust in the body can be during pregnancy and birth. That experience ignited a deep passion for supporting women and families during one of the most transformative times in their lives, and it ultimately led me to become a birth doula.

Today, I am a certified birth doula with DONA International and have had the honour of supporting over 150+ births. Each birth has reinforced what I believe at my core: that when women are supported, informed, and respected, birth can be an incredibly empowering experience.

My approach to birth is holistic and deeply individualized. I believe every family deserves compassionate care, evidence-based information, and unwavering support as they navigate pregnancy, labour, and the early postpartum period. I have supported families through hospital births, home births, and VBACs, and I meet each client where they are—without judgment—helping them make the decisions that feel right for them.

As both a mother of three and a doula, I understand the physical, emotional, and transformative journey of bringing a baby into the world. My role is to ensure families feel supported, confident, and empowered every step of the way.

In addition to my doula training, I have completed further education in birth and postpartum care, including:

Certified Birth Doula – DONA International

Certified Postpartum Doula- DONA International

Member – Association of Ontario Doulas

Red Cross Emergency First Responder (Infant & Child CPR + First Aid)

Basics of Lactation Management

Lactation for Doulas Workshop – Ann Grauer

Postpartum Mood Disorders Training – DONA International

Whether you are planning a hospital birth, home birth, VBAC, or are simply seeking more guidance and support, my goal is to help you feel informed, prepared, and deeply supported as you welcome your baby.

I am a Registered Social Worker Psychotherapist with a strong focus on perinatal mental health, motherhood, trauma processing (through Brainspotting and Deep Brain Reorienting therapies) and cycle breaking. I also work as a birth doula, which deeply informs how I show up in the therapy room. I understand– both professionally and personally– how layered experiences like trying to conceive, pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and parenting can be.

My style is warm, relational, and grounded. I believe healing happens in safe, authentic connection– not in judgement or “fixing”. I’ll meet you where you are, whether you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck, burned out, or just not like yourself anymore.

I often work with clients navigating: • Perinatal and postpartum anxiety, depression, and mood changes • Birth trauma, fertility, loss, or complicated birth experiences • Maternal anger (“mom rage”), intrusive thoughts, and guilt • Identity changes, perfectionism, and people-pleasing • The mental load and emotional labor of caregiving • Breaking generational cycles and healing childhood trauma

In our work together, you can expect a balance of compassion, curiosity, and gentle challenging. I’m practical when helpful, reflective when needed, and always human. Therapy doesn’t have to feel sterile or intimidating– it can feel supportive, collaborative, and even grounding.

If you’re looking for a therapist who understands the complexity of motherhood and mental health– and who will hold space for the messy, tender, and real parts of you– i’d be honoured to work together.

Amy believes that wellness is the key to moving through life with strength, resilience, and joy. She is passionate about helping others discover that by being proactive, making space to care for themselves, moving with intention, and nourishing their bodies, they can create the foundation for a life well lived.

As a Registered Holistic Nutritionist, certified yoga teacher (RYT500, RPYT), and mat and reformer Pilates instructor, Amy is dedicated to supporting women through pregnancy, postpartum, and beyond.

Before beginning her career in wellness, Amy spent 29 years as a paramedic, caring for people during some of life’s most meaningful and vulnerable moments. While deeply grateful for that career, she ultimately chose to follow her passion for helping others embrace wellness through movement, nutrition, and mindful living.

Amy has always been in awe of the miracle of birth and the incredible strength of mothers. Her classes are designed to be more than movement—they’re a place where women can feel supported, build confidence in their changing bodies, connect with other expectant and new mothers, and prepare for the journey of motherhood with strength and grace.

Her hope is that every woman leaves class feeling stronger, supported, and connected—to her body, her baby, and the village around her

Sue Wammes has spent nearly 25 years working as a personal fitness trainer, running coach, and yoga teacher. She completed her 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training through YogaRenew, a Yoga Alliance–registered school in Hoboken, New Jersey, and continues to pursue ongoing education in movement, recovery, and nervous system health. Final project submission is all that is left for her 500 RYT training!

Her yoga journey began in 2012 while searching for relief from long-distance running injuries and fulfilling a work requirement at her local gym. What started as a practical solution quickly became a passion. Drawn to slower, restorative styles of practice, Sue discovered the profound impact yoga can have on both the body and mind.

She specializes in teaching Restorative Yoga, a supported practice using bolsters, blankets, and props to help her students unwind, recharge, and reconnect with themselves. (Ask her about her very first class she attended where she fell asleep!)

In 2025, Sue also became certified in Yoga Nidra, often called “yogic sleep,” a deeply restorative guided meditation practice, which can be a delightful experience alongside Restorative Yoga.

Sue believes that lasting health comes from both movement and recovery, in other words movement and nervous system regulation work together … “from move to soothe”.

Whether you are new to restorative yoga or returning after time away, her goal is to help you regulate your nervous system to feel comfortable, capable, and at home in your body - allowing you to move through life with greater ease, confidence, and longevity.
